So, I realize that I kinda dropped off the radar since I left NZ but I have been a bit pre-occupied. After missing ‘bussy’ in the spring, no-one believed me when I said it was coming back in especially for me until late june when my optimism became a reality. After being back at the Ottawa for just over a week, the glorious Mini Buseater wave came out for the next 3 weeks…best part was we were surfing it in warm water and sunshine…yee haa!! To top that off, as soon as Bussy was gone, High Tension wave on the Gatineau River came in. We usually surf this at around 17-18 on the gauge so we thought we would have to wait a while but when some friends went down at 24 and said they had the surfs of their lives, we were off!! It was beautiful….big smooth glassy super retentive wave where you can throw everything you know in one surf and more…good times!!! So now that the rivers have dropped a little, I’m doing some Instructing for Liquid Skills Kayak school and waiting for the next mission. Weird thing is, the water levels are crazy round here, it’s super high for this time of year and shows more signs of going up than down….hopefully we get low water at some time this summer so we can surf Garberator but more likely we’ll be surfing ‘bussy’ again (tough...NOT)!!! Anyways, that’s about all I’ve been up to for the past month, hopefully have a creeking trip in Quebec lined up shortly and everything else depends on the rain/river gods. A GIFT FROM THE RIVER GODS…!!!!
